For all Calligraphy courses, bring the basic lettering tools you already have to the first class, and a materials list will be handed out at that time.

Calligraphic Sampler    DE01SP12
This introductory course will cover a number of lettering styles through which students will receive a basic grounding in the history and practice of Western letterforms. We will begin with Roman Capitals and the Foundational Hand. Students will then choose among Uncial, Gothic and Italic styles and work on layout in individual projects. This course is also open to continuing students.

Pens, Projects & Problems    DE02SP12
This course is tailored to students who have taken one or two introductory courses and still have questions about tools and techniques. Topics will include how to correct mistakes and repair pens, writing in gold and silver, using paint instead of ink, and layout techniques. Students will be encouraged to work on individual projects.
