Discover PMC- Workshop JW03SP08w
Instructor: Nancy Karpel
Saturday, March 29, 9:30-4:00
Have fun working with the newest material to hit the jewelry industry-Precious
Metal Clay (PMC), and Precious Metal Clay Plus (PMC+). It looks and feels like
clay, but is actually pure silver in an organic binder. It is fun and fast to
work with, and requires no previous jewelry-making experience or heavy tools. Students
will learn basic information and techniques for forming, surface texturing, firing,
and finishing PMC. Students will have the opportunity to finish a piece or more
of PMC jewelry. Nancy Karpel is a Certified PMC Instructor. To learn more about
PMC go to: www.pmcguild.com. Materials
will be approximately $110 and available from instructor. Basic tools are included
in the materials fee. Come and explore the many design possibilities of this
exciting new material! Cost: $100; members: $90
Working with PMC+ Paper-Sheet JW04SP08w
Instructor: Nancy Karpel
Saturday, April 12, 9:30-4:00
Fine silver PMC+ paper is a thin and flexible form of PMC that
does not dry out before firing. Its rubbery nature lends
itself to uses not practical with the lump form of PMC. In this
workshop, students will learn how to work with this unusual form
of PMC+. Many techniques will be discussed, and projects will
center on folding, weaving and overlay methods, combining PMC
paper with the lump and syringe paste forms of PMC+. Cold mold-making
will be discussed, as well as riveting for use in cold connection
of PMC paper. Stone setting is an option if time permits. All
PMC material needed to complete the projects will be included
in the materials fee. Students will be able to complete at least
2-3 pieces of jewelry. This workshop is open to students who
have attended at least one other PMC class. Materials will be
approximately $90 and available from instructor. Basic PMC tools
are required and will not be provided. Cost: $100; members:
$90
