REGISTRATION

•All Spring term courses meet for twelve weeks beginning the week of March 17 and ending the week of June 7, 2008 except as noted. There will be no classes on Monday, May 26, Memorial Day. Shorter courses specify dates in the course description.

•All course prices include lab and/or model fees. The cost of materials is NOT included unless indicated in the course description.

•Course descriptions specify suggested minimum levels of experience. If you are unsure whether a certain course is suitable for you, please don't hesitate to ask. If necessary, we can arrange for the instructor to contact you directly to answer your questions.

•All classes have limited enrollment.
• Please register early to avoid class cancellations. The decision to cancel a class that does not meet its required enrollment is made about one week before the class begins.
• We do not confirm registrations. Students are notified if a class is full or cancelled.

You may register by mail or online now. Complete the registration form below and send it to CAW accompanied by full payment. Or you may register in person at the CAW office between 9 and 5, Mondays through Fridays. Please note that we cannot reserve your place in a class without receiving full payment. A $2.00 handling charge will be added to phone registrations.

Cancellations/Refund Policy
• If a class is oversubscribed when a student's payment is received, the student will be notified; the full amount will be refunded or may be applied toward another course.
• If a class is canceled because of insufficient enrollment, students will be notified and full tuition will be refunded.
• Refunds for a student's cancellation of a course or workshop can be made only for a medical reason, and require a physician's note; registration fee of $25 will be withheld. If withdrawal is necessary during a term, tuition credit can only be given from date of notification to the front office.                       
• A student missing a regularly scheduled class will not receive a refund.
• Classes not held due to bad weather or instructor's absence will be rescheduled.

CAW reserves the right to change its calendar, withdraw or modify course of instruction or substitute instructors at anytime. It also reserves the right to require the withdrawal of any student whose conduct is deemed detrimental. It is expected students will regularly attend all classes for which they are registered.



Supplies/First Class
If you own art materials and supplies applicable to the course you are taking, please bring them to the first class. If your instructor has a list of recommended materials, it will be mailed to you. Students enrolled in CAW courses may purchase materials at a discount at selected art supply stores, using a copy of their registration confirmation for identification.

 

General Information
CAW is accessible to individuals with disabilities. Please let us know of any special needs you might have and we will try to accommodate them.

CAW periodically documents classes through still photography and video for publicity purposes. These images are used in the course brochure, advertisements and other publicity materials for the benefit of the Workshop. Registration in a course at CAW includes permission to photograph you and/or your artwork, and to use your image in its publicity materials unless you inform the photographer that you do not wish to have your photograph taken. If you do not want to allow CAW to photograph your child for publicity purposes, please notify us at the time of registration.

Attention School Teachers:
Many of our courses qualify for CEU credit. Contact the Office of Staff Development in your school system. Approval must be obtained in advance of the class beginning.

Driving Directions and Parking
Easy access of 1-91 at Exit 3. Take exit 3 (Trumbull Street)…at the bottom of the exit ramp at the light…make a left (Orange Street)…go to the next light and make a right (Grove Street)…go to the next light make a right (beginning of Whitney Avenue)…one block up on right is Audubon Street (One-Way)…CAW is half-way down the block. Parking is available next door at the Audubon Court Garage. Bring ticket from the garage and stamp at front desk to receive a discount. The garage is attended until 10:15 Monday through Friday.

Circle of Friends

Creative Arts Workshop invites students, individual patrons and corporations in the community to join its Circle of Friends. Donations allow CAW to keep tuition fees affordable in spite of rising expenses. Memberships in the Circle of Friends are good for one year from the month you join. You will receive a 10% discount on tuition for classes, your course brochure by first-class mail, invitations to gallery openings and members' only preview of the Celebration of American Crafts, and participation in the Annual Meeting. Financial Aid

The Workshop also offers tuition assistance for both adults and children. Students who wish to be considered for financial aid should submit an application. Forms are available at the CAW office, and must be returned no later than two weeks before the term begins. Selection for financial assistance, based on need and interest, is made by the Scholarship Committee. Please note that the Committee is operating under a new set of guidelines which are explained in the cover letter with the scholarship application.

Rachel M. Beamon Scholarship: Full scholarship for a term for a minority inner-city child with artistic potential.

Barbara Bobrow Memorial Scholarship: Full scholarship for an adult student in a pottery class.

Nicole A. Camputaro Scholarship: Full scholarship for an elementary student for a term. Based on need, creative ability and a sincere interest in the arts.

Janet Saleh Dickson Scholarship: Full scholarship for a young person from the New Haven Schools.

Regina Franco Scholarship: Full scholarship given to a child who is a student in the New Haven Public Schools. Recommendations from school teachers encouraged.

Geoffrey Glaser Scholarship: Full scholarship for a child for a term.

Joan G. Kenna Scholarship: Full scholarship for a term based on need and sincerity of purpose for any student who wishes to enroll in drawing and painting classes.

Merry Jane Kravitt Memorial Scholarship: Full scholarship for two terms for students who show outstanding potential in any category. Selection based on need, talent, and sincerity of purpose. An interview and review of applicant's work are required.

Ann P. and Albert Lehman Scholarship: Full cost for one term in sculpture. An interview and review of applicant's work may be requested.

Hilda P. Levy Memorial Scholarship: Full scholarship for a term. Selection is based on need, talent, and sincerity of purpose.

Susan and David Millen Scholarship: Full scholarship for a student in the Greater New Haven area who has an interest in exploring the arts.

Deborah Weaver Scholarship:  Full scholarship for a term for child based on need, talent and sincere interest.

In addition to tuition assistance, a work-study program is available for interested students; arrangements may be made at the time of registration.
