JURIED SHOW
2007
2007
National Juried Show:
Ceramic Abstraction:
Exploration & Evidence
Juror: Paula Winokur
March 30 - May 4, 2007
Opening Reception: March 30, 5:30 - 7:30 pm
The emphasis of Ceramic Abstraction is
on the clay material – by nature, an elemental substance inherently
capable of abstraction – and the invention and possibilities
that occur within the field. The material is not only explored
in the traditional sense – using a variety of clays, glazes,
and firing temperatures – but also by the concepts and
ideas beyond the ordinary. As Winokur noted, “There
seem to be no boundaries that cannot be investigated.”
Ceramic
Abstraction presents fifty nine pieces ranging from the
minimal to the highly expressionistic and from small objects
to large installations. Included are works on the floor,
the wall, the pedestal, and even hanging from the ceiling.
Creative Arts Workshop holds a national
juried exhibition each year to showcase the work of emerging
and established artists from across the nation, highlighting
its mission of fostering creativity through participation in
and appreciation of the visual arts.
